Experiences of medical Faculty students in Bratislava with psychoactive substances. Part I. Knowledge and spectrum of used drugs

In this work are presented data from a group of 636 medical students (School of medicine, Comenius University in Bratislava). The most frequent used substances are caffeine, alcohol and nicotine. Less frequently are used pharmaceuticals with addiction potential (analgetics, benzodiazepine anxiolytics and hypnotics). Also illicit drugs are used less frequently. From them with marihuana has experiences 11.2 % of medical students. Medical students in 0.8 % use marihuana on regular basis. 2.3 % of respondents used MDMA once or repeatedly. Medical students have also experiences with amphetamine psychostimulants in 1.7 %. In the paper are presented differences between men and women and between regular consumers and non-consumers of tobacco.
