Psychoanalytic theory and nonpsychoanalytic praxis

Author attempts to reflect the contemporary therapeutic praxis of drug addicts in the conditions of the Therapeutic Community in Psychiatric Hospital at Bílá Voda. He emphasizes specific features of addicts and their indispensable respecting during therapeutic process. He investigates in accordance with descriptive diagnostic attitude the special personality characteristics of clients what is distinctive as well in the course of therapeutic work. Among these characteristic features belongs also the connection of feebly integrated antegenital auto- and heteroagressive impulses with immediately connecting tendency to addiction or to passive personality defences. This feature is so much typical, that his author designated it with work-term “jojo-phenomenon” and submits it here to further discussion. The described phenomenon is illustrated by factual examples of his own psychotherapeutic work.
