Analysis of the prescription of drugs of potential abuse according to the expenditure in a pharmacy

Authors followed the prescription of nine drugs and combinations with potential of abuse (benzodiazepines, analgesics) in a pharmacy in Prague in time interval April – August 2001. Most of 835 prescriptions were on Rohypnol, Diazepam, and Tramal, mainly for female clients older than 60 years. As the most often repeatedly prescribed drug, Diazepam was given to 27 women and 9 men, and more than three times Diazepam and Tramal (8 women).
