The topic of relation between unemployment and habit-forming substance abuse in the article is based on surveys and literature citations. The description of the related physical and psychical problems is shown as same as the possible outcomes. The authors mostly introduce the abroad experience as the issue is quite new and not so closely surveyed in the Czech Republic. The issue should be paid more attention not only in the field of research but also in the field of encounting the unemployed at the Employment Offices or at their practicians visits. For a closer look at the temporary tendency in the habit-forming substance abuse at the unemployed one can usefully source from the general methodics plan, the questionnaire or the outcomes of the model project that was specifically aimed at the above mentioned group of the population.
