Potential modafinil influence on drug addiction – examination of its behavioural effects in mice

Máchalová, A. – Vršková, D.

Modafinil is a drug with psychostimulant effect used in therapy of sleep cycle disorders. Its potential to induce development of behavioural sensitization and to influence social behaviour was evaluated in present experiments. Using the open field test, development of behavioural sensitization was shown in animals which received modafinil repeatedly. Modafinil is in this aspect similar to some abused psychostimulants. Modafinil had antiaggressive and anxiolytic effects in the model of conflict social interactions of male mice.
