Secure attachment is an important indicator for emotional regulation and health functioning in the interpersonal relations in accordance with the own image of self. Insecure attachment may lead to seeking the psychoactive substances as the coping mechanisms. The article brings the overview of the research findings related to the attachment of the addicts and suggests also the possibility of moving of the attachment on the continuum from the insecure to more secure attachment in the process of psychotherapy that is a part of a specialized treatment of the psychoactive substance dependent patients.
