Urgent drug states and first episode of psychosis

Differential diagnosis of the urgent drug states includes the aspect of following development of psychopatology. To decide if it is exclusive grog induced situation, or if there is the trend to development of psychotic disorder, is the key problem for each patient and to do this decision is necessary as soon as possible because of next therapeutic strategy. In the last 5 years 138 patients with urgent drug problems were hospitalized in psychiatric department of Hospital Bojnice. In 27 of them (19.5 %) psychotic disorder has been developed, main from the range of schizophrenia. The aim of this presentation was to follow up, which characteristics could be helpful for differential diagnosis of these states, already at the time of the first admission. Results of this analysis can be helpful on differential diagnosis urgent drug states and management of patients.
