Spirituality, psychopathology and alcohol dependence

The article is focused on relation among psychopathological symptoms and spirituality of alcohol addicted patients. High level of psychiatric symptomatology can by one of obstacles for good treatment course and maintaining treatment outcomes. Spirituality and its components (hope, meaning of life, faith) may have protective influence and may alleviate psychiatric symptoms of patients. The aim of work was compare level of psychiatric distress and spirituality among patients and control group. Link between spirituality and psychiatric distress was searched, too. We found out higher level of somatization and phobic symptoms in patient's sample. Patients had lower life meaningfulness and lower level of hope than health group. The most important relations were negative correlations of life meaningfulness, level of hope and level of psychiatric distress.
