André, I. – Novotný, V. – Cook, J.

The authors build up on their previous work about intoxication psychoses. A precise orientation in this area is essential both for clinical practice and forensic adjudication, but also for forensic approaches, as they tend to attract specific attention lately. Complex relationships between schizophrenia and substance use and their considerable forensic consequences are highlighted. The authors recommend to build on the most thoroughly investigated conditions – alcohol intoxication psychoses. They illustrate the practical aspect of this complex relationship in two case studies. An accurate diagnostic conclusion and sound orientation in this area is emphasized.
