Pastoral counselling in alcohol-addicted individuals

Alcohol addiction is a problem affecting all areas of human life and therefore requires a holistic therapeutic approach. The aim of this paper is to show how pastoral counseling can creatively combine elements of spiritual counseling with selected knowledge and methods of humanitarian and social sciences, and thus become an effective tool for the internal transformation and healing of an alcohol-addicted person. In order to achieve its goal, pastoral counseling must begin with the unconditional acceptance of the person and focus on all dimensions of their existence. While describing the specific characteristics of the individual stages of the healing path in the context of accompanying alcohol addicts, we chose method typical of counseling, which consists of rewriting and commenting of interviews with individuals overusing alcohol.
